Online Course on Faecal Sludge Management 2018

The online course consolidates knowledge on planning and organization of the entire faecal sludge management service chain, from the collection and transport of sludge and its treatment options, to the final enduse or disposal of treated sludge from urban, peri-urban on-site sanitation systems.

The course was developed in 2015 by IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (the Netherlands) in coopeartion with partners and with the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The online course is the first in the field and takes its theoretical basis from the book Faecal Sludge Management (Strande et al., 2014).

The course is taught in English and is currently run by 11 universities from 9 countries, including the Netherlands, Switzerland, South African Republic, Thailand, Burkina Faso, Bangladesh, Nepal, India and Russia. All of them are members of the Global Faecal Sludge Management e-Learning Alliance. In Russia, the online course will be run for the first time starting from February 19th 2018 by Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building (Tomsk, Russia) in the framework of the Contract for Assignment No.2017/153/106695/EWH of November 1st, 2017.
